DMARC Receives $10,000 Grant from the Principal Group Foundation

The Des Moines Area Religious Council has been awarded a $10,000 grant from the Principal Financial Group Foundation for its supportive services programs. “Giving back is engrained in the culture at The Principal. It’s important to support the communities our employees call home,” said Mary O’Keefe, senior vice president and chief marketing officer, the Principal Financial Group®. “Enriching the Central Iowa community helps retain and attract top talent, creates an excellent business environment and makes for a great place to live – and work.”

DMARC provides a broad safety network of assistance and subsidies that help low-income families in Greater Des Moines meet housing, food, child care, and other basic needs. Major programs include the Food Pantry Network, Compassion in Action, and Child Care Assistance.

Kristine Frakes, development director for DMARC, said, “The Principal is a wonderful community partner, and summer is always one of our busiest seasons. This timely and generous gift will go far in helping us meet the immediate needs of so many families in Polk County.
