St. Paul Alternative Gift Market
December 1, 2018 @ 10:00 am - 2:00 pm
St. Paul Presbyterian Church in Johnston is hosting the fifth annual Johnston Alternative Gift Market on Saturday, December 1st from 10:00-2:00 PM. This unique shopping experience offers shoppers the ability to purchase a “gift” that directly benefits a non-profit, in honor of relatives and friends. In total, fourteen local non-profits will be on site with holiday alternative gifts. Gifts from 30 international non-profits will also be available. Last year over $14,000 worth of life-changing gifts were given!
Shoppers can purchase polio vaccines for children, veterinarian care for animals, meals for the homeless, roofs for schools and many more meaningful gifts. Loved ones who are honored will receive an attractive holiday card with an insert explaining how their gift helped someone in need.
“During the Christmas season, we all get so much stuff…who needs another sweater?” said Bill O’Connell, pastor at St. Paul. “This is a chance to give a gift to someone who truly needs it.”
Along with shopping for alternative gifts, St. Paul youth will be selling a variety of homemade soups, desserts, and hot beverages, and Nature Bag, will be offering unique bags from global artisans.
If you are unable to attend, you can also visit http://www.johnstonagm.org/ and shop online. 100% of proceeds will go directly to the organization.
We are excited to partner with the following organizations participating in the Alternative Gift Market:
Alternative Gifts International, The Johnston Partnership, Central Iowa Shelter and Services, CROSS Ministries, HOPE Ministries, Salvation Army of Des Moines, The Animal Rescue League, Rotary Club of Johnston, ChildServe, Ronald McDonald House, Self-Help International, Count the Kicks, Genesis Youth Foundation, Mid-America Youth Homes and Nature Bag.
Honor those who have enough by giving to those who have too little. Add the Alternative Gift Market to your shopping list!
