DMARC’s Second Annual Signature Event, the “Virtual Edition” was a hit!
Although unable to “sip and sample” in person, sponsors, patrons and virtual attendees attended this virtual event on May 27. There, they learned cooking tips and more from the event’s team of experts, through cooking demonstrations, recipes, and advice, all guided with the help of event emcee Sid Juwarker, CGP of Terracon and co-owner of Tee-hee’s Comedy Club and event facilitator, Joe Benesh of the Ingenuity Group. Attendees also enjoyed the music of Andrew Hoyt and photography tips from photographer Christopher Maharry.
The event included three live stream breakouts:
- “Learn from the Chef” hosted by Austin Bailey, Chef Instructor at the Iowa Culinary Institute at DMACC
- “Drinks for the Season & Other Things to Know” hosted by Max Hytone, General Manager, Foundry Distilling Co., Dr. Lee Raley, Research and Product Development, Red Boot Distillery and Benjamin Sheeler, CSW, CSS, WSET II, IWP, District Manager – On Premise, Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits
- “Favorite Foods for the Season” hosted by Cydney Koehn, Cyd’s Catering, Vithoun Saysopha, K & S Kitchen and Amara and Dione Sama, Palm’s Caribbean Cuisine
The event raised over $80,000 for DMARC’s mission of meet basic human needs in the greater Des Moines area.
“We couldn’t have done this without a great team,” said event chairperson, Rich Haberkamp. “But we can’t wait for next year! Please mark your calendars for Thursday, May 6, at the Scottish Rite Temple for our third annual event.”
