UNITS of Central Iowa Challenges Cubs Fans to Fill Storage UNIT with Cereal for DMARC

UNITS of Central Iowa is celebrating their grand opening by hosting a food and fund drive for the Des Moines Area Religious Council (DMARC) Food Pantry Network at the Iowa Cubs game on Saturday, July 10.

Fans are challenged to fill a storage UNIT that will be on-site with cereal for the DMARC Food Pantry Network. With each donation of cereal or cash contribution, participants will be entered to win a $500 travel voucher courtesy of The Travel Center, LTD. DMARC is encouraging donations of whole grain, low sugar cereal.

“Local baseball fans are excited we can finally pack the stadium at Principal Park again this summer after a year of social distancing restrictions,” said Jim Becker, owner of UNITS of Central Iowa. “With thousands of fans attending games again and more foot traffic downtown, we knew our grand opening was a great opportunity to help neighbors in need. Come say hi, check out our storage containers, and leave a box of cereal while you’re here.”

Can’t make it to the game on the 10th? You do not need to attend the game to help fill the UNIT and be entered to win the $500 travel voucher – you can make a donation online and be entered to win at the following link: https://www.justgiving.com/campaign/filltheunitdrive.

“We’re excited to invite everyone to ‘pitch’ in and help us fill ‘the big UNIT.’ It’s time to get ‘cereal’ about solving hunger,” said DMARC CEO Matt Unger. “But in all seriousness, we’re very excited about partnering with UNITS of Central Iowa on this event.”

Cubs fans can also support DMARC at all Iowa Cubs Sunday home games this season – a donation of three food items is good for one general admission ticket at Sunday home games. Remaining Iowa Cubs Sunday home games this season are on June 27; July 11; August 3, 8, and 29; and September 12.
