Join DMARC for Sundays at the Ballpark

Take me out to the ball game! A special partnership with the Iowa Cubs allows baseball fans free admission to any Sunday home game (approx. 1 p.m. start time) with the donation of three food items to the DMARC Food Pantry. Donations can be made at the DMARC booth at Gate B. Games run from April through September and volunteers are needed to help at the booth.

Make it an outing for your team, troop or youth group! Sunday home games also feature the opportunity for kids 13 and under to run the bases after the game concludes.

Looking to play ball? Please consider bringing a donation of our top three most needed items.

  • Healthy, high fiber/low-sugar cereal
  • Peanut Butter
  • Fruit canned in its own juice

Inspire your friends and family to join you and they can collect limited edition Food Pantry Sunday Baseball Cards when you bring your own food donation.

We are also looking for volunteers throughout the season to encourage others to donate. Those interested in volunteering can sign up online at dmarcunited.org/volunteer.

Join us for any Sunday Home game from April to September and don’t forget to bring at least three food items to donate!

About DMARC:

The Des Moines Area Religious Council (DMARC) is an interfaith organization whose mission is to work together to meet basic human needs of the greater Des Moines community.

Perhaps its most recognizable contribution to the community is the DMARC Food Pantry Network, a network of which 14 partner food pantries, one onsite food pantry (the DMARC-ket Southside Food Pantry), numerous Mobile Food Pantry locations, a home delivery service, and food warehouse. The DMARC Food Pantry Network is committed to providing healthy food options to the people it assists. Once per calendar month, individuals can select a three-day supply of food from any one of its partner food pantries for members of their household.  Pantry visitors are also able to access “AnyTime” Items which are available whenever a DMARC Food Pantry or mobile site is open.

Last year (CY 2022), DMARC assisted over 53,000 unique individuals living with food insecurity in Greater Des Moines. Over one-third of those assisted were age 17 or younger. DMARC could never do the work of feeding so many people without the partnership of many diverse faith communities. Today, nearly 200 faith communities representing six world faith traditions support DMARC with donations of food, funds and volunteer service. Because we can do so much more together than we can on our own, DMARC is committed to helping faith communities build relationships and to have a better understanding of how to combat food insecurity.
