DMARC Launches Mobile Food Pantry at CareMore Health with $10,000 Donation from Amerigroup Foundation
The Des Moines Area Religious Council (DMARC) is launching a mobile food pantry with a recent $10,000 Amerigroup Foundation donation at CareMore Health’s Des Moines Care Center, 1530 East Euclid Avenue in Des Moines. DMARC’s mobile food pantry will be on-location at CareMore from 2:00-4:00pm on Wednesday, October 27, and will be there every 2nd and 4th Wednesday of the month following.
Visitors to the mobile food pantry can select from a variety of healthy foods available. Once per calendar month, visitors can receive a 3-day supply of food based on family size, with additional food items available every day the pantry is open.
“DMARC is excited to launch a new mobile food pantry site at CareMore Health’s Des Moines Care Center with a generous donation from Amerigroup Foundation,” said DMARC Chief Executive Officer Matt Unger. “Co-locating our mobile food pantries with other services for low-income residents of our community has proven highly effective in meeting the needs of people facing food insecurity in Greater Des Moines.”
“Amerigroup Foundation understands that access to healthy food significantly impacts health and that’s why we are championing efforts to make nutritious food more accessible and affordable, especially for our most vulnerable members and communities,” said Jeffrey Jones, Amerigroup Iowa President. “We are proud to work alongside community partners like DMARC to address food access and nutrition as well as support the mobile food pantry that will positively impact so many.”
